JOSHUA BLOOM

HUMANITIES  |  JBLOOM@YORK.ORG
Josh Bloom, as his surname suggests, is focused on growth--especially the intellectual growth of his students.  He sees reading as the means to cultivate critical-thinking and empathy. As a teacher of English, he knows that reading fiction is a means of inhabiting circumstances different than one's own--and that such intellectual experience fosters great compassion for others. Thus, he enjoys sharing the notion that reading fiction makes you kinder. As an art history teacher, he feels lucky to share treasures of world-wide creativity with others. Josh just finished a Masters degree in English through Middlebury College. He also has a Russian Area Studies M.A. from Indiana University, Bloomington, and a B.A. in English from Swarthmore College. He loves reading, art, music, philosophy, obstacle courses, and running.
